...Augurs was written spcifically for the talents of Red Hook power trio Bearthoven: Karl Larson, Matt Evans, Pat Swoboda.  I met these musicians at the Bang on a Can Summer Institute in 2013.  Augurs is a mechanistic work, that rachets up and up, requiring more and more acrobatic playing for the execution of multiple rhythmic layers.  It turned out to be even more virtuosic than I had originally thought, but the group did not blink.
